Single Ply roofing is a flexible or semi flexible pre-manufactured membrane typically made of rubber or plastic materials. Single Ply roofing comes in large rolls and must be glued or mechanically fastened to a roof sealed at the seams.

The biggest problem with Single Ply roofing is seams, which are NOT covered in the warranty. Seams continue to be a major disavantage with any single ply system. Seaming applications range from contact adhesives to heat welding. In addition termination and transition detailing is extremely difficult using single ply systems especially those involving changes in plane such as roof protrusions. EPDM Single PLY life expectancy is 10 years although the warranty does not cover the seams. Failing seams are the main cause of single ply roof leaks followed by ponding water, for this they have no warranty either.
